How Adjusted Body Weight Is Calculated

This calculator uses the Devine formula to estimate Ideal Body Weight (IBW). Adjusted Body Weight is then calculated using:

Adjusted Body Weight = IBW + Adjustment Factor × (Actual Weight − IBW)

Ideal Body Weight Formula

For men:

IBW = 50 kg + 2.3 kg × each inch over 5 feet

For women:

IBW = 45.5 kg + 2.3 kg × each inch over 5 feet

When Adjusted Body Weight May Be Used
